About

Dr. Bhavuk Garg

Dr. Bhavuk Garg · Ethical Spine Initiative · Max Hospital, Delhi

Dr. Bhavuk Garg is Principal Director & Head of Orthopaedics & Spine at Max Hospital, Delhi, and a former Professor of Orthopaedics (Spine Surgery) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. His clinical work concentrates on robotic hip and knee replacement, revision spine surgery, complex trauma and fracture care, shoulder and elbow replacement, and complex and severe spinal deformity.

Alongside the operating theatre, he is a prolific academic. He has authored more than 325 publications in national and international journals and 47 textbook chapters, holds seven patents and medical-device innovations, and has delivered close to 300 invited lectures and orations worldwide. For three consecutive years — 2023, 2024 and 2025 — he has been named among Stanford University’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists.”

His research is unusually translational: it includes a refined technique for one of the most demanding operations in spine surgery (the Modified Posterior Vertebral Column Resection), the Active Apex Correction technique for early-onset scoliosis, and funded work on robotic surgery, 3D-printed patient-specific guides, and machine-learning analysis of spinal deformity. This is the genuine basis of his reputation as a technology-forward surgeon — not marketing, but his own published science.

He holds editorial and leadership roles across the international spine community, including Associate Editor of the North American Spine Society Journal, Chair of the SICOT Spine Committee, and Active Fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society, and is the founder of the Fragility Fracture Network India.
